This year, I'm taking part in Everesting for Second Chances 2026, HCSA Community Services' flagship fundraising movement.

I'll be taking on the challenge of climbing 8,848m of elevation - the equivalent height of Mount Everest through [cycling/running], to support vulnerable individuals and families on their journeys of restoration, reconnection and reintegration.

Just like this climb, rebuilding a life after adversity is never easy. It takes resilience, support and a community that believes every person deserves a second chance.

Through this challenge, I'm standing in solidarity with those rebuilding their futures across HCSA's programmes - from individuals overcoming difficult pasts to families and youths navigating disadvantage.

So what is Everesting?

It's a sporting challenge where participants take on the elevation gain of Mount Everest (8,848m) through Cycling or Running.

That means repeated climbs, one loop at a time, until we reach the summit.

But this challenge is about more than sport.

Every ascent represents the journeys of restoration, reconnection and reintegration faced by vulnerable individuals and families rebuilding their lives.

The climb is long.
The obstacles are real.
But second chances become possible when a community rises together.

As I push through this challenge, I'm reminded that resilience is never built alone.
